We all love our pets and want them to be happy and healthy. But, when they fall victim to fleas, many times the infestation will spread through our homes when we own pets. But fleas don’t have to be a problem. Appropriate measures for flea control will keep your home flea-free.

The entire home should be treated once the presence of fleas or ticks has been verified. This treatment includes carpets and rugs. Your pet will have to be treated, as well, so we recommend using a medicated shampoo so fleas and ticks won’t reinfest the home following treatment.

What are fleas?

Fleas are small, external parasites which feed on mammals, usually cats and dogs. They live on out pets and can also be found in bedding, carpeting, and furniture where pets frequent.

Why is Flea Control important?

Flea bites irritate an animal’s coat and may lead to hair loss, allergic reactions, and the introduction of other parasites to your pet, such as tapeworms.

 

Do fleas affect humans?

Fleas will bite humans, and the bite can be very itchy. In rare instances, a person can have an allergic reaction to flea bites.

Do fleas bite humans at night?

Since fleas are more active at night, the likelihood of getting bitten is marginally higher.
