Why rodents keep coming back

Roof rats are the usual visitor here. They travel the roof line and the trees that touch it, and they get in through soffit gaps, torn vent screens and the space where a pipe enters the wall. A house that only gets traps will be clear for a few weeks, then reinfested from outside.
